My blog is, after all, all about people's second amendment rights. With that being said, this new gun scares me, and I don't think it is a good idea. This new gun, called the "Liberator", is being made by a man in Texas, with a 3D printer which molds plastic pieces, using a computer image.

Although this gun may look like a harmless toy, it is a firearm that can fire a real handgun caliber projectile, and kill someone. The makers of the gun may have added a six ounce piece of steel to the frame to make it detectable in airports, but that does not solve the problem. The real problem is that the gun is not meant to be bought at a store, it is meant to be created at home from a personal 3D printer. The maker of the Liberator wishes to make the blueprints for the gun available to all, which could put it directly in the hands of people who don't qualify to purchase a handgun at a sporting store. The big problem is that there is no supervision to make sure each gun printed at home has metal added so it will be legal under the Undetectable Firearms Act.If no metal is added, the guns could easily pass through metal detectors at airports, schools and courthouses. The maker has also gone as far as making high capacity magazines called "Feinstein mags", named after the California Congresswoman who made magazines holding more than 10 rounds illegal in the state of California. I am all for high cap magazines, but not by going about it in a less than legal means and trying to skirt the law.The Liberator's inventor has also made AR-15 lower receivers out of the 3D printable material, and is gaining popularity for its lightweight qualities.

Again, keep in mind that I am a total supporter of the second amendment when I make this statement, that these plastic printable guns go against what we as law abiding gun owners stand for. The reason these guns scare me, is that it is just another reason for lawmakers to try and legislate away our freedoms. In the eyes of the lawmakers, guns like the liberator make it look as if all guns are scary and out of control, and that all guns need to be taken away because of the stupidity of a few. I believe that the Liberator is a bad idea, because we as law abiding gun owners believe in following the law, going through proper procedures such as background checks and safety classes. If anyone can just print their own gun at home, the world will become a lot scarier place. Now instead of knowing that your local sheriff deputy and conservative neighbor conceal carry, you will have to worry whether the neighborhood drug dealer is packing a Liberator plastic handgun. Please, don't support this gun. It's a bad idea.

This is often a fact that gets overlooked by the liberal media and legislators: the fact that for every violent killing with a firearm, there are just as many acts of bravery that stop attacks from happening or progressing. This brave man at a local Grocery store in Salt Lake City stopped a man who decided to go on a stabbing spree. The brave man happened to be carrying a concealed handgun, and decided to pull it on the attacker, which stopped the stabbing spree. Every day, there are stories like these, they are just harder to find. People who stop attacks like these are not the kind of people that will go out of their way to seek attention from the media, or recognition for their act of courage. I give this man a big thank you, from all of us who value concealed weapons. He is a hero in my eyes. Below is the link to the full story
While the popular AR style rifle isn't going away any time soon, it was a party to an interesting crime if you were a law enforcement officer in January of this year. Legislation passed in the wake of the Newtown shootings prompted the New York legislature to make it illegal to posses high-capacity magazines. Usually this isn't a problem because there is a clause for LEO in bills that ban high-cap magazines. Except in New York. No clause there. Overnight, by the letter of the law, thousands of cops became possible felons, as it is a felony to illegally posses a high-cap magazine. Obviously by the spirit of the law, cops in New York would never be taken to court over the issue, or else all of America would be up in flames with heated rhetoric denouncing the law. It just goes to show, that Nancy Pelosi type of thinking that prevails among the anti-gun population is prevalent. They want to "pass the bill, then find out what is in it later". Well that just doesn't fly with me. I think our law enforcement officials deserve better than to be treated like just another person. After all, they are the only ones who keep the thin blue line between order and chaos. Here's to the boys in blue.

Among all the gun debates, I'd like to step back and highlight a great man in our history. Not only are many of us in the gun rights community avid shooters and mostly conservative, but we are patriotic Americans who love our country. I was surprised to hear my boss tell me that his hero is Oliver North, and that he still highly respects the man. I was delighted to hear that not everybody still thought Ollie was guilty. I have grown to have a great respect for the man, after learning that my grandfather and Oliver have emailed back and forth about our similar family histories. We learned that our family is related to Oliver's family, as we not only share the same last name, but many commonalities in where our relatives come from.

I think too many people forget that the Iran Contra scandal happened under one of the most respected Presidents this country has seen, Ronald Reagan. Don't get me wrong, Reagan is my favorite president, I just want to give Ollie some credit too.

Today, Ollie is a news correspondent for war news, and frequently visits the troops in the middle east to do USO shows, as well as see how the troops are doing. He has written many books in his time since the controversial trial, and is featured on the news frequently. He is an unseen icon of public virtue that this country hasn't seen since the days of George Washington, and doesn't ever get the full credit for his bravery when he became the fall man for a dubious plot to help Nicaraguan rebels.

We need more men like Oliver North in this government if we want to keep our liberties and our freedoms, because by golly, no amount of public virtue can be seen in congress or the white house these days.
Out here in Utah where I go to college, there is a movement brewing. People of all ages: men, women and children, are crying out against an oppressive government that wishes to take away a fundamental right of Americans. Obama and his Democrats say there is no use in sporting for an "assault rifle" style AR-15, but here in Utah many people beg to differ. Most any gun store around here is sold out of AR style rifles, due to fear of the impending revival of the ban on assault weapons that ended in 2004. Among many of the protectors this last weekend was a good friend of mine, whom I attend college with. He was able to be seen by the media and get some recognition along with other of his friends. The signs read "9/11, Columbine, Newton and Aurora: all gun-free zones" and "I want a good guy with a gun in my school". Here, the conservative consensus is not to take away the guns, but rather solve the issue of violence by hiring more School Resource Officers and reducing violence seen by children in movies, video games and music. I applaud the brave people who marched on the capitol, and I am proud to say that My friend and I will both be marching at a larger protest in March. More to come...
Well hello folks, I have been on quite a long trip away from my blog as work and school have kept me busy. After my great day shooting and gun shopping today, I just thought I would share my thoughts on something that's been in the news recently, now that things have cooled down. The news has got me thinking about the Bushmaster AR-15, which will probably be banned in my communist state of California if these shootings continue. I would like to point out some of the great advantages of owning such a weapon: not only is it a great home defense weapon and a great gun for training to hunt, but it can be a great hunting gun. That 16 inch stock carbine AR style rifle at the local gun store can be bought for $600 and turned into $2,000 worth of merchandise with some simple additions. You want to keep burglars out of your house? Keep it the way it is and you have a great home defense gun. Want to take a nice deer hunting trip? Throw on a 24 inch barrel, a bipod and a scope, and you have yourself a nice .223 caliber rifle to hit a deer accurately from over 400 yards. Sounds like two guns for the price of one to me!! Anywhoo, let me know what you think. Some people say its not practical, but I say it sounds like quite the boy toy to me.

Hello All, I am back from my amazing Fourth of July vacation, and find myself with internet service once again! It's amazing how the forest doesnt have wifi, right? Anyways I thought I would do a belated ditty about our Independence day and how I celebrated it. In the morning I watched a nice parade, then went boating and sat around the cabin. Later that night we all hopped in the boat to watch a nice firework show from the peninsula, it was great. All in all, it was a relaxing and festive day: the way I like it. As we have free agency to make our own choices through the price paid by soldiers in our armed forces, I feel that not everyone must be an outgoing patriotic lunatic or obnoxious guy wearing red white and blue body paint to be patriotic. One can simply enjoy the freedom to make simple choices, and honor the fact that we have that liberty because we live in such an awesome country. Here's to the simple things in life!! Also you will be hearing more of my regular posts now that I am back to civilization.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01864070617499968043noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6945982655815538149.post-22043006229033746222012-06-28T10:42:00.000-07:002012-06-28T10:43:31.511-07:00Swiss Gun Rights and Newcomers

Funny Swiss Army knife eh? First of all, I would like to invite John Kidd, my newest follower, to the blog. John, I thank you for being interested and you are welcome here in our tight-knit gun blogger world. Secondly, If the country of Switzerland was as great as our great country of America, I would move there in a heartbeat. Bud fortunately for us, the good ole USA is the best country around. Ok theres my patriotism for the day, on to the good stuff. On the Yahoo tiles the other day I was looking around and saw that Swiss male adults from the ages of 18 to 30 are required to own and possess a military issued weapon in the case that Switzerland is invaded. How cool is that!! Very different from our communist gun laws in comparison (well, at least here in Cali). Needless to say, I'm sure the Swiss have the right idea. Not that I would force gun ownership (see 2 posts below), but I definitely think a relaxing of gun laws would be better for everyone. Less bureaucracy, more protection.
I always seem to get ticked off at people who bring up statistics for gun control and why it really works, and I never seem to care enough about the numbers because I know in my head gun control does not work. Well now, we can all be more informed about how the FBI statistics came out, and the gun violence crime rate decreased by 4% while gun ownership is increasing at a great rate. Yes, this does not necessarily mean gun ownership caused the crime rate to drop, but it's a good case.
I got a little scared watching this video, I will admit, because I had been contemplating taking my friend out to the range with me to show him how to shoot trap, and he wanted to bring a 10-22 to plink around. I decided after watching him handle my unloaded (but theoretically loaded) Remington 870, and decided he did not have the safety and training to handle my firearms, so he will not be going to the range with me. This video affirmed what I had been thinking, because gun accidents really aren't about guns, they could be with cars too, because what makes it turn from recreation to an accident in the blink of an eye is stupidity and lack of handling safety. I know I'm preaching to the choir here, because I know all of my readers are trained gun owners, but it's still a great reminder to see what safety really means.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01864070617499968043noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6945982655815538149.post-19874303528495914632012-06-23T13:55:00.000-07:002012-06-23T14:14:02.050-07:00Handy Range DeviceSo here's that handy dandy range accessory I was telling you all about a couple days ago. You will have to excuse me not posting for a couple days, I was on the top of a mountain, here's a nice shot for ya'al. It was great to get away from the world for a while and enjoy nature. And yes, this really is California.

Ok now to the good stuff, here's a little trick I use when I go trap shooting, (sorry if you don't shoot trap or skeet, I'm sure you could use it for maybe some pistol and rifle use, But not likely). I've seen one other person on a gun range that uses it, so it's not my invention per se. It alleviates the need for a costly trap belt with the leather box and mesh bag.

To attach the box of shells to your belt, you simply cut two vertical slits in the back of the box, feed your belt through, and tear off the top cardboard flaps, then presto! you have an alternative to a costly trap belt, and a simple way to have your shells near by.

I used to go to a couple other gun ranges less local, or out in the forest. But since I recently took ownership of a shotgun from my dad, a Remington 870 express magnum, I decided to hit a range. I was promptly welcomed by a couple of senior citizens who run the range, and met lots of great people, all fellow trap shooters and gun lovers. It was great to have a real conversation about guns, politics and everything else with people I can relate to. They really admired having a college kid on the range, and I didn't feel out of place at all with a bunch of 60 year olds, I felt at home. I shall plan to make trap shootin at the Rod and Gun club a regular thing, each wednesday. Feels good to have a home. Look for my post tomorrow, I took some good pictures of a handy redneck accessory for the range I like to use. Us gun nuts gotta stick together, so here's a personal thanks to all my gun blogging friends. You're the best.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01864070617499968043noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6945982655815538149.post-66745222946164266882012-06-19T21:43:00.000-07:002012-06-19T21:44:37.167-07:00That guy should be shotDoes that title shock you? maybe for some, but it's a pretty common phrase among many conservatives, gun nuts, military veterans, people born in the 40's to 60's, and many more subcategories of people. So why is it so harsh to say? I have taken a turn from my regular posts about shooting products and guns to talk about something I think also gets a lot of us gun enthusiasts all heated. When some crazy guy like the skinhead down in Tuscon kills five people, and the responsible gun owning community gets blamed and slung through the mud because "guns are not controlled enough in this country", we get a little ticked off don't we? Times like these are when some of us would say, "that skinhead shoulda been shot" or "people like that should get run over". But in this day and age of political correctness, we must speak as the Queens English and stick out our pinky when we drink tea. We cant say "illegal alien", we have to say "undocumented migrant". Instead of "prostitute" we have to say "executive carnal specialist". Well i say screw it! Here's to all my fellow beings who aren't afraid to nut up and speak their mind.

Lets talk about bulk, not bulk ammo, I mean bulk firepower. I see high capacity magazines everywhere: FPS Russia videos, bank robberies, shooting ranges, TV shows, and in the news. So why are they so special? Because sometimes more is not less, more is MORE!!! Sometimes good things come in bigger packages. Recently, I have even seen a double-drum magazine for Glock handguns, which is a must if you own a Glock. I think the reason many people view high cap magazines as evil, is because of the recent incident in Tuscon where the mentally unstable young man shot a Congresswoman with a high cap Glock. At the end of the day, I'm sure most of us gun nuts will agree: It's great to have some variety when you are out shooting, like having a banana clip for your .22 or a 10 round clip on your 12 gauge. Makes things more interesting.

If you own a rifle or shotgun, and love shooting it, but want less recoil. then the Remington Supercell recoil pad is the one for you. It's not a slip-on pad, it's actually a replacement pad for lesser-quality factory recoil pads. I put one on my Express 870 magnum and it tamed the beast quite well, reducing recoil by about half. It's a great deal too, only $20 from the Remington site.

Don't own a Remington? No worries, the next option is a great one for all rifle and shotgun owners, but it's not a recoil pad. The picture below is of an insert in the butt of a rifle or shotgun, called a mercury recoil reducer.

They are more expensive, but still reduce recoil greatly, and it's hidden so nobody would ever know. The only downside is what I sometimes hear on the gun range, what sounds like a wet cough. This is from the acoustics of a mercury recoil-reduced gun, and I don't particularly enjoy the sound. I like a nice clean bang.

I realize that many shooters in the gun community have a bad feeling when they think about purchasing a .22 caliber handgun if it is Semi-automatic, mainly because they have a tendency to jam. This is because there is often not enough propellant to eject the round while racking another into the breach. One thing ammunition salesmen will tell you to fix it? Buy Mini Magnum rounds made by a company such as CCI, who makes them in the 100 round trays as seen above. BIG mistake if you fall for this, such as if you have the Sig Sauer Mosquito or similar handgun. Buying mini magnum rounds can be a waste of money if you are only looking for a hotter load on the range. I suggest purchasing a brick of Remington .22 rounds, even though they look more generic. They don't jam as much, and they are a better bargain. So you choose, pay $35 for 500 rounds of mini magnum or $20 for 525 rounds of Remington gold, the better product.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01864070617499968043noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6945982655815538149.post-12249911810957806502012-06-15T21:40:00.000-07:002012-06-15T21:40:37.321-07:00Chick Lean

Is it just my imagination? Or do most girls have an extreme lean back when they shoot guns? Seems like no gun is immune from chick lean, I've seen it with shotguns, handguns, and rifles. Many times, I have even seen it contribute to the gun being dropped because of the awkward stance. Many theories are out there about chick lean, but the most common is that it is more comfortable for girls to position the weight of the gun more over the hips. Girls, is that about right? you tell me. Hey, I've even seen a few guys do it! Plain and simple, its just poor shooting stance, and only makes the recoil worse. To get a good competition shooting stance, one should lean into the gun, slightly forward, and position feet however feels most normal, but most likely staggered, not side by side.

Yes, if you are wondering, I changed the name of the blog form "Americans for 2nd Amendment" to "American and Armed". Shorter and easier to remember. Still the same blog. Anyways so I am from the Communist state of California, unfortunately means i must abide by all the crazy leftist gun laws mad by the legislators in Los Angeles. What do they know about guns besides gang banging? Anyways I frequently speak with gun owners from other states and find out how bad our laws really are.

11 day waiting period after purchasing a gun at a dealer

all ammunition except shotgun you must be 21 to purchase

magazines can carry no more than 10 rounds

and there is a limit of 1 feature on an AR type weapon (e.g. flash suppressor). Can't have a detachable magazine and a pistol grip, it's one or the other.

Yes, thats right, Ammunition branded by the patron saint of shooting and everything guns himself, Ted Nugent. The Nuge never stops impressing me, and this new line of ammo is no less impressive. Ted even compares the ammo to his music, saying it is "magnum-cum loud" and is the "epitome of hard-hitting, sniper-accurate, high performance ammo".It comes in a range of different calibers and has been tested by professional shooters, earning high marks. Sounds like a great deal, at a conservative price possibly? I'll have to try it out, Pick up a box today!
Anybody fired one? Please comment if you have. The closest thing I've fired is .50 MBG on a gun range here in the Communist state of California, which pales in comparison to the .700 Nitro express fired by the men in the video above. I would really love to meet someone with a big bore rifle just to try it out for size and have the obligatory knockdown to my butt. So other than big game hunting such as Elephant, Rhino or Bison, I see a great business: charge 10 bucks a shot to anybody brave enough to shoot it! But really, these big bore rifles do a great job at knocking down the prey with a single shot...okay sometimes two. If you're into big game hunting, or want to try it out, a big bore rifle like the .700 Nitro Express or 577 T-Rex is a must.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01864070617499968043noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6945982655815538149.post-51511914622617536822012-06-13T00:47:00.000-07:002012-06-14T20:47:27.845-07:00Whats your favorite caliber?

With so many calibers on the market, what is the right choice these days? Whether you are looking for self-protection, target shooting, or a duty weapon, the most common answer would be the Smith and Wesson .40 caliber. Most law enforcement agencies around the world use this as their standard caliber today. However, a more cost effecient caliber in the modern days of high ammunition cost is the 9mm round. Contrary to what you think, this round is not wimpy at all. It carries more velocity than the S&W .40 caliber, just with a slightly lower mass of projectile, and fewer grains. Long story short, it will still take down an intruder, and will cost you less money to train on at the range. My advice if your looking for a new caliber handgun? Go with a 9mm Glock.
Every week or so, the main host of the show introduces a new gun or ammunition. He often uses his own personal Remington 887 pump action shotgun, a close cousin to my favorite of my own shotguns, the Remington 870 pump action. My favorite are his demonstrations of dragon breath rounds and flechette round, because who doesnt love something a little out of the ordinary coming out of your firearm? This guy takes being a gun nut to a whole new level. Check it out and tell me what you think. If you like shotguns, rifles, and pistols with some explosions and Russian twang, you'll love it.
Two Australian Olympic swimmers are being sent home becuase they posed with guns in a picture, at a California gun range nonetheless!! Isn't that the norm for two guys at a gun range to do, take a picture posing with guns when you go shooting? I personally like to have some evidence to show my shooting buddies when I go shoot a cool gun or find a new spot. The two are even being banned from using social media for a whole month: censorship and silence imposed by their government. What has the international community learned about guns in the last decade to send two fine athletes home for a picture? Obviously nothing, since these two young men did absolutely nothing wrong. They were fully within the bounds of the Second Amendment protections, yet they are being punished for digital evidence of what is almost being pegged as a "crime" against the Olympics and Pro swimmers everywhere, labeling the photos as innapropriate. Sounds like baloney to me.

As this is the first post on this blog, I will explain the purpose. The purpose of this fine piece of free speech is to get the message out to my fellow Americans about the current movement in the liberal seats of congress, as well as state legislatures in states like California, New York, and Illinois. I wish for people to become more educated on what really contributes to gun violence, instead of just taking every shooting as another symtom of unregulated firearm markets. To all my fellow conservatives, shooting buddies, gun enthusiasts, and citizens who are law abiding citizens, let us rally together against oppressive government, and maybe even get a couple laughs out of it. By following my blog, you will be treated to political news, humorous gun stories, great shooting ideas, and news about cool guns and products that you might love adding to your gun collection. It is an honor to represent the Americans who take pride in our Constitution, including the Second Amendment, not just what we pick and choose.

Sincere Thanks,
